ENFIELD LITTLE LEAGUE

Double AA

Division Director - Rachel Miller

Division Bylaws - 2022: Double AA Bylaws

The Enfield Little League Double AA division of Minors is for players ages 8-10 who have graduated from Single A but are not quite ready to face our more competitive pitching. These are real games with player pitching.

Player Expectations

  • Players by this level should have a good understanding of Tee Ball and Single A expectations.
  • Playing on defense should have great infield / outfield ready position as pitcher starts their delivery.
  • A good understanding of situational awareness which includes covering bases, backing up plays, backing up bases and cheering on their team.
  • Understanding that they their “at bat” starts while on the bench. Players should be aware they are engaged in the game while on the bench. They are watching the pitcher for release point, control, and speed.
  • Players are running through 1st base and turning off into foul ground and quickly back to the bag. Players should understand how to take 2 bases and how to take 3 bases.
  • Players catching should have a good understanding of primary catching position and start to understand secondary catchers’ position. Catchers are blocking pitches to keep the ball in front of them. Catchers are throwing down to a base on a steal.
  • Infielders understand that 2nd base covers a steal when a right-hand batter is up, and short stop covers 2nd base when a left-hand batter is up. The infielder not covering the base on a throw down is backing up the throw a good distance behind the player covering the base.
  • Pitchers first learn how to pitch from the stretch. This teaches the player how to push off the runner with their force moving towards the catcher.
  • Players will continue good dugout behavior. Focus on the game while in the dugout becomes more important as the player moves up in divisions.
